| Woohoo! Spring Sing is over!! That feeling is so fabulous. It was my last one and even though we didn't win a single award I don't think it could have ended on a better note for me. The final show was absolutely perfect. We were loud, we had a ton of energy and we kept straight lines (I think). This was by far the funnest year with the show and everyones shows were great. Now I have a few short weeks to get a job here in OKC and make enough money to afford rent at the apartments I really want to live in. I think I can do it with a minimum of 40 hours a week at about $12/hour. I'll be living paycheck to paycheck but its doable. I'm applying to several positions at hospitals in the area and praying that something comes up or that I can get a paper published in an online journal. I think with getting published at the age of 22 I could get a good paying job in the psychology field, then I'll have to decide if I want to eventually take the paycut and go into nursing. If I do get published I have a job in mind that would keep me in OKC for a while longer. Its a research psychologist position with the FAA. I can't imagine working for the FAA but it would be so much fun to be a research psychologist for a few years and get paid an awesome salary. I think I could afford the townhome I want with a salary like that and pay off my student loans pretty quick. At this point though, that thought is just a dream, but what a great dream to have! | | |
| Having been prompted to update the world on my life story let me begin.... since most of you who actually take the time to read this know about my car and the fourth of July I think I can skip that part (just ask if you dont know its a great story) which leads to school and work. School still sucks like always but I am 1 1/2 semesters away from walking across that fabulous OC stage in April with a degree that I highly doubt I will be putting to use, at least for a few years. If you hadnt heard, I am going to nursing school at some point in the near future at a some school in OKC. I think I even decided which program to go through but I'll have to get all the prereqs done over the next year which means full time work and part time school! Speaking of work... I am still at the Childrens Center and enjoying it most of the time. The center is similar to a nursing home for kids under the age of 18 who come in for various reasons. Some kids are born with neurological deficiencies, some come in from accidents having brain and spinal cord injuies and some have been abused bringing about brain damage. The kids are real cute and most of them are small enough to pick up without much of a problem with 2 people and my coworkers have all been great with very few exceptions. I dont think I could have asked for a better place to start my CNA career but I probably will be looking to move into a more hospital like setting around the end of this month so that hopefully I will have a new job by January. Im really hoping to get on at Integris Southwest Baptist because they have a great program and they provide tuition assistance up to a point. Also they are expanding all over the country which will make it easier someday to move wherever I want to. Well... thats about all I can think of to fill everyone in on my life. If you hold your breath just maybe I will update in another 2 months! | | |
| I'm now finally moved in and the apartment is almost unpacked! If I can just be patient enough to wait for Saturday I'll get to add to it with a recliner and a few other pieces of furniture my parents are bringing. Its definatly exciting! Its great to be back at OC. I was ready to come back and see everyone. 4 months of waiting is just too long for me.
Now all I have to do is wait to find out if I really do have a job or not. I was hired at the Children's Center in Bethany last Friday on the condition that I passed my sports physical and a drug screen. I know the physical went well but either they haven't gotten the results from the blood test yet or something went wrong and they think I'm using drugs... hopefully its just that they don't have it yet. I think I'll probably keep looking for something else just in case. Anyhow just pray that something really good comes up soon! Well I think its about time for me to go to bed. Hopefully I'll see everyone super soon!
| Well for a quick update my cousin Sara got married today. It was beautiful and the weather worked really well for their outdoor wedding. It was great to see them and its still a bit surreal that shes no longer Sara Bukovatz but Sara Randolf. But in other good news I'm finally back to receiving a paycheck! I'm currently employed by a temporary agency. So far its been kinda fun. Granted I've only been on 3 days and I spent all 3 days at the same place but its still a paycheck! Well, thats all thats really happened since finals ended and everyone went home. I'm sure at some point this summer something fun will happen and I will feel compelled to let the world know all about it through my fantastic xanga posts. Till then, love and miss yall! | | |
| Yay for a good day so far! The weekend at home was by far the most relaxing weekend I've had all semester. It was fantastic. Friday was the only day that things went kinda crazy. I'll give all the details.
We left OKC at about 6:30 so we expected to get into Topeka at about 10-10:30. The only bad thing about the drive was that there was a nasty north wind that we were fighting the whole way and it only got stronger as we went farther north. Well if you know anything about my car you know that the gas gauge doesnt read right and I have to base everything on the mileage for each tank. On average I can get about 330-340 miles per tank. Aparently that doesnt work so well when fighting a 35 sustained wind... so you can start to guess where this one is going. With a 1/2 mile left till we were off the turnpike the car decided it'd had enough and totally shut down. The speedometer went crazy, the car jolted forward a few times and then finally the steering wheel locked up. Tim, Cherie, John and me waited about 15 minutes for highway patrol to come put a little gas in our car and follow us off the turnpike where we waited for my parents to come and get us. Needless to say everyone involved, except my dad, laughed for the longest time and I will not be living this one down for years. Atleast the trip was well worth it all!
After that the weekend was pretty low key and everything was just real nice. I got a few movies and some cash for my bday and I got to have Easter dinner with one side of the family. Fortunately all the good cooks were at this one! Sunday consisted of church and my cpr class which went great and I can now begin applying for summer hospital jobs! Now all there is to do is survive the last 3 weeks and then its gonna be summer time!
